What do parents say?

What do parents say? “Being able to let our son explore on his own is one big reason we chose Pixie. He has come into his own skin being the big boy he is. Pixie Play School was the only choice we needed when exploring all these other preschools. Pixie Play Schools in an amazing, fun, loving, caring, growing school. We are proud to be here” ~Lindsey “Being new to the area, I tried to home-school my preschooler without success. So after looking for a preschool I could be involved in, I found Pixie and knew it was going to be perfect. Not only did I get to be very involved in my child’s education, but we also both made lasting friendships. I look forward to returning to pixie with our second child in a few years!” ~Tasha “Only when my oldest daughter went on to kindergarten did I come to fully realize what I had at Pixie: A way to be so closely involved in my child’s school experience as I won’t ever have it again, short of home-schooling. when I think of how she started to blossom in her personality at Pixie and how everything there prepared her to hit the road running at kindergarten I am so glad we took the opportunity to be part of Pixie.”...

Why Choose a Co-Op? And the Parent’s Role

Why Choose a Co-Op? Two important elements are naturally combined in a cooperative preschool: You, the best expert on your child, are in the classroom You are supported by the expertise of a professional teacher who plans the curriculum and guides the program These elements together give you and your child a very comfortable and successful first school experience. On a regular basis you will be able to see firsthand how your child interacts with his/her teacher and playmates. Co-oping also opens the door to many friendships as you interact with other parents and grandparents and with an adult to child ration of 1:4 your child gets lots of individual attention. Parent’s Role The success of our program is dependent upon the wholeharted support and involvement of all members. As a member family you will: Participate in the classroom (3-4 times per month) Serve on a committee Assist with housekeeping/maintenance and fundraising. Participate in our E-scrip and Scrip program Attend general membership meetings. Here parents have the opportunity to form school policy, meet other families and participate in Parent Education...

Our Philosophy and Curriculum

Our Philosophy Our philosophy is based on the knowledge that children learn through play. We respect each child’s uniqueness and allow them to grow at their own pace. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that allows children to develop in all areas: socially, emotionally,, cognitively, linguistically and physically. Our goal is to instill a joy in learning that each child will carry throughout their life. The Curriculum Pixie offers a home-away-from-home atmosphere that makes children feel comfortable and helps the explore freely. Within this safe environment we provide a developmental curriculum. This means that planning is done through a process of observing the children, evaluating their individual interests and needs and then planning the activities accordingly. Activities are hands-on and include: Science Block Play Creative Art Cooking language and Pre-Reading Pre-Math Dramatic Play Music and Movement Experiencing and caring for pets Outside Play The children are given opportunities for individual as well as group...
